Mulino (2018)

Mulino is tagalog means windmill in English. My project is a hand-cranked mill which she designed with the carpenter from Las Casas. I originally was planning to make a series of windmills along the beach, which had to be revised because of the weather. And I was inspired by the windmill in Hong Kong. During Chinese new year, we always go to the temple and buy the windmill to pray for good life. I made these five Mulino with these concept in mind. Hope all the things would be fine in Philippine.

All the wood we used are originally from the rebuilding houses. Some of them are supposed for the window frame. And the base of the windmill are from the ceiling of old houses.

Five objects are placed respectively into 5 windmill. They are metal, plywood, brick, tiles and bamboo. They are 5 important materials to rebuild the houses over there. When people cranking the windmill, people can also listen the sound of those 5 material hitting sounds. Hope all the houses there could be protected from flooding.
