I was a Christian when I was studying in secondary school. At that time, I believed God. And I believed all the story in bible was happen before. However, I choose to set me free after graduated. Recently I read the bible again. Started from Matthew, new testament. In Matthew 14:22-33, it is talking about Jesus walk on the water:
Jesus Walks on the Water
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,
24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
It is strange that the feeling of reading this script changed. I am feeling hilarious as I don’t believe it at all. The so-called miracle is just a story. That’s why I would like to make the scenario happen again. And raise a suspected question: could faith be so powerful? especially in this century?
It is said in the bible that Jesus walks on water because he has faith. Now, we can step on water easily and watch the ripples. How important is it to distinguish reality from virtuality? Where does our faith lie in this contemporary world?
I hang a closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) with special-made filter on the ceiling, so that the camera can only be recorded down the infrared light. And I put a infrared light to project on the floor. So, the viewer can see the ripple on the floor and listen to the wave sound when they walked into infrared projected area.
我曾經是一位基督教徒。在中學時經常去教會聚會，直到我中學畢業。最近機緣巧合之下我重閱聖經，由新約馬太福音開始。在馬太福音14章22-23節裡，講起耶穌走上水的情境：
22 耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先渡到那邊去，等他叫眾人散開。
23 散了眾人以後，他就獨自上山去禱告。到了晚上，只有他一人在那裡。
24 那時船在海中，因風不順，被浪搖撼。
25 夜裡四更天，耶穌在海面上走，往門徒那裡去。
26 門徒看見他在海面上走，就驚慌了，說：是個鬼怪！便害怕，喊叫起來。
27 耶穌連忙對他們說：你們放心！是我，不要怕！
28 彼得說：主，如果是你，請叫我從水面上走到你那裡去。
29 耶穌說：你來吧。彼得就從船上下去，在水面上走，要到耶穌那裡去；
30 只因見風甚大，就害怕，將要沉下去，便喊著說：主啊，救我！
31 耶穌趕緊伸手拉住他，說：你這小信的人哪，為什麼疑惑呢？
32 他們上了船，風就住了。
33 在船上的人都拜他，說：你真是神的兒子了。
奇怪的是當我重看這段時，我的心情變了。我覺得很可笑，我根本不再認為這些奇蹟是曾經發生般，變成了一個像希臘神話的故事。我決定製造一個這樣的情景，以及重新討論一個問題: 信心真的是有這麼大的力量？由其是在這一個世紀？
「據說從前有人能在水上行走，因為本著信。今天我們能夠輕易地做到踏上水面，看著水面的漣漪。
是真是假，重要嗎？我們在這個世代又能相信些什麼？」
我安裝了加上特製的過濾的閉路電視，這樣閉路電視只能接收紅外線影像，然後就放了一支紅外線燈。這樣當觀眾行入紅外線投射範圍時，就會看見地上的漣漪及聽到海浪聲。
